Don Matias

Barangay Don Matias is formerly just a sitio of Barangay Tambacan but because of its fast growing population it became a Barangay through the effort of former SBM ISIDRO NACIONAL. It comprises of four (4) Sitios namely:  Littaong, Qualing, Kappia and Centro.

The major source of livelihood is farming with palay as the main crop.  However there are already business establishments that emerged during the later years since it is adjacent to town proper where in major business establishments are located.

Don Matias was formerly known as Sitio Cabayogan, a part of Barangay Tambacan. During the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos he declared that all sitios having a total population of 500 will become a barangay.

At that time, Don Isidro National is a Sangguniang Member of the Municipality of Burgos. He  passed  a  resolution  to  separate  Sitio Cabayogan  in  order  to  become  a  barangay  and  that  resolution  was  approved  in  the  Sangguniang  Panlalawigan  at  Lingayen,  Pangasinan.

The  land  area  where  the  elementary  school  and  the  barangay  hall is situated  was  donated  by  Don  Matias  Borricano  Bustamante , so  after  his  death  the  barangay  was  named  after  him.

Barangay Don Matias can be reached via Matias-Guiang national road via public transports, with a distance of approximately two (2) kilometers from the Burgos town proper.  It is bounded by Barangay Tambacan –East, Barangay Poblacion –West, Barangay San Vicente –North and Barangay San Miguel-South.  It has a land area of 522,365 square meters.
